A new anti-impotence medication may be available for sale in the UK.
The MHRA is offering a new treatment for erectile dysfunction (ED) in men, which should be available for sale through a pharmacy.
The drug, Viagra Connect, was approved for sale in England in January and has been available on the NHS since then.
It is thought the drug may be sold as a tablet or a vial.
In a press release, the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) said it had received approval from the European Medicines Agency for the sale of the drug and had received positive feedback from people affected by erectile dysfunction.
The MHRA said it had received positive feedback from people taking the drug who reported that the tablets were effective for them.
“This treatment for ED has been clinically proven to be safe and effective for many men,” said Dr David Healy, MHRA’s Chief Medical Officer for Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Products.
“This treatment will provide men with a long-term solution to their erectile dysfunction.”
The drug is marketed under the brand name Revatio for male erectile dysfunction.
Dr Healy said the product was expected to cost between £12.50 and £25.00.
It is not available in the UK for erectile dysfunction.
